Having recently won the contract for the 90-megawatt Bergama power plant project, Nordex has just secured a new wind project in Turkey. Beginning this fall, the german company will be delivering ten N90/2500 wind turbines for the Bandirma III wind farm. The new customer, As Makinsan, has also concluded a premium service agreement with Nordex.

Nordex AG
Norderstedt/Germany – Bandirma III is the first wind farm to be built by As Makinsan, which is a group of investors from the tourism, textile and construction industries, among others. The 25-megawatt facility will be built on level pastureland near the port city of Bandirma in western Turkey. The 7.4 metre per second average windspeed at the location will enable Bandirma III to generate roughly 72 gigawatt hours of electricity annually. This electricity – the equivalent of the power used by approximately 36,000 Turkish households over the course of a year – will avoid more than 70,000 tons of greenhouse gases.

Nordex entered the Turkish wind energy market in April 2007 with its 42.5-megawatt Yuntag wind farm. Spurred by the positive outlook in this market, Nordex established a Turkish affiliate this past April and is currently building two wind farms: the 22.5-megawatt Mazi III and the 15-megawatt Kores.
