The guidance is for designers/manufacturers, installers and users involved in developing and operating material recycling facilities (MRFs), also sometimes called material recovery or reclamation facilities. It does not aim to be a comprehensive, ‘stand-alone’ document, but gives examples of the major health and safety issues that should be considered. Besides that, it includes advice on how to reduce risks faced by hand-pickers. and shows the risks posed by transport, machinery, dust, noise and fire.
