Brussels - Of January 2010, the Paper and Paper Converting Industry Association of Slovenia has become the newest associate member of the Confederation of European Paper Industries (CEPI). The Slovenian association gathers seven paper and board producers and many other paper and board converters. Together they produce 1,123,859 tonnes of paper, board and other converted paper products per year.

“CEPI is delighted to welcome the Slovenian association as a member and we hope that we will have a very fruitful partnership over the years to come. The association has been active since 1976 and has been promoting our industry within Slovenia and we now look forward to learning from them and sharing expertise.” said Teresa Presas, Managing Director of CEPI.

“We are pleased to be able to take our place as a member of CEPI and believe that we can play an important role in representing the smaller European member states and the issues we face,“ stated Mr. Andro OCVIRK, President of the Paper and Paper Converting Industry Association of Slovenia.

In the Slovenian Paper and Board Industry there are seven producers of paper, paperboard, tissue, newsprint, coated paper, packaging paper and speciality papers. The structure of the industry is dispersed all across Slovenia, and it produces a great variety of end products. Overall production in 2008 was 1,123,859 tonnes of paper, board and other converted paper products. The biggest part is represented by paper (406,213 t) and cardboard (207,828 t). The average export ratio lays at 54.9 percent.
