Berchem - The European Battery Recycling Organization (EBRA) is the professional organization that has represented the battery recycling industry for more than 10 years. Together with other stakeholders, EBRA has contributed significantly to the development of this new industry by providing stewardship and guidance to its members on collecting, transporting, sorting and recycling waste batteries within the frame of regulatory compliance. The association has 28 members and is also open to non-recyclers like collectors, sorters and any other company or individual involved with battery recycling.

The waste battery industry is now fully implementing the waste battery directive but at the same time has also to comply with other regulations (REACH-IPPC-etc). The stewardship role of EBRA will not only continue but also needs to be reinforced in the near future.

Therefore, the management of EBRA has decided to review its internal organization and structure. More particularly, the General Secretary (GS) will not only manage the organization internally but also represent the organization to the outside world. In other words, the General Secretary becomes your unique point of contact with EBRA. The Board Members and President will continue supporting the organization but without representative tasks. By streamlining its organization, EBRA will be in an even better position to offer all companies involved with battery recycling the opportunity of a single point of contact for networking, support on technical questions as well as expertise on regulatory issues.
