Riga - Few days ago, in the meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers, Regulations Project prepared by the Ministry of the Environment “The order in which the primary packaging of drinks which is outside the deposit system and which is collected in the shopping halls or special reception centre, must be collected and managed and the requirements for businessmen who collect this packaging” was announced.

The regulations project defines that manager collects the packaging in the shopping hall if the reception centre is designed according to the requirements of hygiene and construction, or in specially created reception centre.

The regulations project defines that manager should accept both – damaged and undamaged packaging, which must be sorted. The damaged packaging must be placed in the recycle containers, the undamaged packaging must be sent back to manufacturer. All packaging received must be registered.

Manager must provide the transportation of collected packaging to the recycling plant or to the manufacturing fabric if the packaging will be reused.

The State Environmental service issues the licence for manager to collect, reload, sort and store the packaging.

Manager is allowed to give a payment for customers who hand over the packaging.
