Kaluga, Russia - Kaluga research and production company ERGA has designed and successfully introduced into production KSMB magnetic separators for separation of various products, transported on a conveyor. KSMB magnetic separators are designed for removal of ferromagnetic and magnetic elements from the product flow.

Principle of operation of this equipment is basically separation of magnetic and non-magnetic materials by a magnetic field, generated by permanent magnets, based on rare-earth materials Nd-Fe-B. Ferromagnetic materials are drawn to the surface of the drum under the influence of a powerful magnetic field and are held there until the conveyor belt leaves the surface of the drum. Then the magnetic field disappears and ferromagnetic materials are discharged into a special container. Non-magnetic materials continue their way for further processing at a tangent to the surface of the drum.
A wide range of available conveyor dimensions allows production of lines with various productivity – from one to 250 t/hour. Transporting element is a highly wear-resistant conveyor belt, allowing to significantly lower magnetic induction losses, caused by increasing the clearance between the drum and the product. It is important to keep the product flow even to guarantee effective separation, and it is necessary to remember that the less the height of the product layer is, the more effective its separation is.
